Puss is a nomad, free spirit, and legendary adventurer. He has but one rule: Never say no to adventure. And also help damsels in distress. And also always be good to orphans. Okay, he’s got more than one rule.
A huge, hairless, winged cat covered in tattoos, the Sphinx is a bored, jaded hipster - too cool for her job of protecting a magic hourglass.
San Lorenzo’s Mayor is a large and imposingly muscular man who, despite his impressive size, is terrified of absolutely everything, especially anything from the dreaded OUTSIDE WORLD. He spends a lot of time hiding in barrels.
Pajuna is a Highland cow, with a murky history, who owns The Cow and Moone cantina. She has had many jobs and crossed paths with everyone.
Señora Zapata is often angry and passionate in her opinions, scorned by many a past lovers. She may even be a little unhinged. She does not trust Puss or his intentions. She runs the orphanage and is very protective of the children.
Vina, is a know-it-all who knows nothing; the facts she recites constantly are clearly made up. A little bit of a weirdo, she’s got a soft spot for Toby.
Kid Pickles is a puny kid with a bowl cut. He always has a pickle jammed in his mouth like a cigar. He’s like an old-timey gangster in pickle-eating kid form. Kid Pickles claims his "mother was a cactus."
Esme is the youngest and smallest of the orphans. She’s about four and just as cute as cute can be.
Toby is an excitable 10 year old orphan who compulsively draws on anything he can. He is a large pig and breaks things accidentally due to his size and strength. Puss is his biggest hero.
The most beautiful cat in San Lorenzo, Dulcinea teaches the kids at the orphanage. Dulcinea is smart and independent, and when she decides she’s going to do something rabid mules couldn’t stop her. She is also quite naïve, almost bullheadedly so – nothing will sway her from her rosy view of the world. Dulcinea sees only the best in people and often her relentlessly positive opinion brings out the best in them.
Artephius runs one of San Lorenzo’s finest macramé owl shops. At first he seems like your run-of-the-mill confused old man, but it turns out he’s over a thousand years old and is history’s greatest alchemist. He has moments of clarity, but then other times he’s bug-chuggin’ crazy. His magic has kept him alive for centuries, but his brain has gotten so filled up with stuff he can’t remember a whole lot. Now he’s just really macramé owls.
